When it comes to personal training, the first thing I think of is the incessant phone calls I would get from my old New York Sports Club trying to sell me on a free session with one of their “expert” trainers. Don’t get me wrong, there’s no doubt in my mind that some of those trainers would give me what I wanted and needed, but the majority of the time they texted on their phones more than they corrected my form or listened to me. They didn’t ask me to do a squat or a pull up so they can see how I move. They didn’t ask about any injuries or mobility problems so they could tailor my programming. So, to put it plainly, personal training has always put a bad taste in my mouth…
… Until I found CrossFit. We all know how hard it is to do a snatch, toes to bar, or even a kettlebell clean and jerk. While our trainers are incredibly talented, we are also tasked with triaging classes of up to 15-20 people, so spending 10 minutes with one person while breaking down a snatch just isn’t possible.

The best (and worst) part about CrossFit is there is ALWAYS something to get better at, no matter what fitness level you’re at. So, what can you do if you are still pulling early on an Oly lift? Or still don’t have a strict pull-up or ring dip? Or maybe you want some help with increasing your speed and intensity during WODs?
Grab one of our coaches and tell them your goals and ask how they can help you over the course of a few personal training sessions. Unlike the big box gyms, our coaches will put together warm-ups, mobility, movement drills and homework specific to you and your needs that won’t interfere with your class training. Being able to spend a few sessions diligently breaking down and practicing movements within a range that is right for you and away from a busy class is truly invaluable.
